The neurosurgeons of Sydney North Neurosurgery (SNNS) are heavily involved in both teaching and research at the Royal North Shore Hospital and North Shore Private Hospital campus.
Drs Cook and Parkinson both participate actively in the education of future neurosurgeons (registrars) including conducting dedicated tutorials in both neuro-anatomy and neuro-oncology. Indeed Dr Parkinson is the current Director of Training in Neurosurgery at Royal North Shore and North Shore Private Hospitals.
Additionally through their involvement in Sydney Neuro-oncology Group (www.snog.org.au) of which Dr Cook is the current Chairman and Dr Parkinson is a Director, Drs Cook and Parkinson provide valuable contribution to the basic science research being conducted at the Bill Walsh Translational Cancer Research Laboratory at the Kolling Institute of Medical Research (http://www.bwcancerresearchlab.org.au/)
